Surgery
We perform surgeries at the Animal Medical Hospital at Glenwood on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. They consist of a wide range of procedures from spays and neuters to orthopedic surgery. To help us minimize surgical risk, our surgery area is equipped with THE LATEST MONITORING EQUIPMENT and the safest anesthesia. We monitor the heart, respiration, blood pressure and blood oxygenation. After surgery, our patients are placed in a hospital ward and vital signs are monitored by the technician until your pet is fully awake. Our Doctors and technicians are devoted to post-operative pain management, and monitor each patient for signs of discomfort, and treat accordingly.
Preventative health care at AMH at Glenwood would not be complete without dental care. We provide complete dental exams and explain to clients how peridontal disease has a direct effect on the liver, kidneys, and the heart. Our dentals are done with ultrasonic cleaning and polishing. We also extract teeth when necessary and perform all types of dental surgery.
Numerous diagnostic procedures are available in order to aid in the prevention and identification of health problems. We offer X-ray, Electrocardiograms (EKG), Endoscopy, Ultrasound, and extensive laboratory testing.
We have the ability to take and develop X-rays within the hospital, allowing us to quickly diagnose a variety of medical conditions ranging from hip dysplasia and broken bones, to intestinal obstructions. We perform contrast studies of the intestinal tract and urinary systems. Our in-house ultrasound has been used to diagnose pregnancy, masses, abdominal fluid and many other conditions not confirmed by X-ray.
Electrocardiograms
With the use of the EKG machine, we are able to monitor your pet's heartbeat while your pet is under anesthesia, evaluate specific cardiac conditions, and perform geriatric cardiac exams.
Endoscopy
The fiberoptic endoscope enables us to non-surgically see inside your pet's body, obtain biopsy samples, and retrieve objects you pet may have swallowed. We have safely retrieved many articles of clothing, toys and bones from the stomachs of dogs and cats without the need for surgery.
